Thunder,

Hope everyone enjoyed your Sunday off!!  You would rather the boys be playing but you don't mind the day off during this long stretch either.

I thought we played great defensively but struggled a bit with the bats.  The boys are starting to gel a bit now that they are used to playing with each other.  It is really neat to see the progress of the boys.  It is amazing to see and you should be very proud of them.  We are a  young team and I think it is showing a bit with the bats.  We are not putting the ball in the outfield consistently enough and that makes it tough when you play against the talent that we do.  I think we had a tough week but look to bounce back in the Flower Mound tournament.

There are currently only 4 teams in 7u for this upcoming week,  hopefully a few more will sign up.  We will still play our 2 pool play games and then tournament play.  I spoke to the tournament director this evening and we may not start play until saturday and would play a double header and then tourney play sunday.  As soon as I know you will know.

We will practice Tuesday @ Oak Grove @ 6pm and possibly hitting on Thursday.  We may have a chance to play at Grapevine HS Thursday and just waiting to hear from Coach Mendoza.

I would like to get the boys an end of the year trophy but had some suggestions that maybe something different would be cool.  If there are any other ideas maybe with our logo on it or something along that line we are open for ideas.  We need to know and make a decision very soon.  We have $$ left over and would like to keep it around $10/award.  Let me know.

We have 2 more weeks left and I think we have learned and achieved so much in just the few weeks we have been together.  The boys are respectful and very easy to coach.  Thanks to all of the help from everyone.  This only works when you surround yourself with great people.  Thank you all...

Coach Jason

Thunder,

We should all once again be proud of the boys as they left it all on the field this past weekend. With temperatures hovering around 100 degrees, the boys fought hard in pool play, earning the top seed (Silver Bracket) and a first round bye.

For the second week in a row, we were eliminated by the eventual tournament champions. While every loss is tough, we should keep in mind that we were only one win away from the finals, and lost to the eventual winner. We can be very proud of the boys and all hold our heads high as we roll into the upcoming tournament.

We should not only be proud of the kids, but the parents as well. We have a great group here and should all be looking forward to some fun times in the weekends ahead. Special "kudos" to Tadd Myers for all of the great photography this tournament. Check out the complete Thunder gallery ( www.taddmyers.com) and thank Tadd the next time you see him.

Thunder,

Great start to summer ball!!! I thought the kids played great all weekend and we really got things rolling Saturday morning.  Our goal every tournament is to get in at least 4 games.  That means you won a tournament game and that is what we did.  There are some tough teams out there especially on defense.  I think with 1 week in the books that moving forward we will continue to get stronger and it will show on the field.

We have our Grapevine tournament this week.  We will most likely be playing friday evening sometime and early saturday morning.  There are currently 13 teams signed up for 7u.  You will recognize several of the same teams week in and week out.

Practice Tuesday @ 6 at Oak Grove field D.  We will have an optional/mandatory hitting session @ the cages at Oak Grove thursday from 6-7ish.  If you can make it I think it will be very beneficial,  if you can't,  then no worries.  If you can't get there until a little later that is ok.  We may only have 1 cage so if everyone shows up at 6 you will be waiting.  We would like the kids to hit two buckets of balls.

Also,  please respond to Steve's email about haircuts.  If we can call ahead and let them know how many are coming than that would be helpful.

I look forward to hosting our tournament and being at our own fields this weekend.  Let's take advantage of home field!!!
